Hello everyone and welcome to Adam’s Mish Mash, the show, which is all about the Mash and not at all about the Mish. And with you today as always is Adam Snellgrove, the poor sod, that has to talk about all this nonsense all the time. And what is it that we do here? Well we talk about interesting stuff. That’s it. What? Isn’t that enough? O.K. then, we also do it in English and in Czech.

Minulý rok bylo oznámeno, že pražské metro na lince A dostane mobilní pokrytí ve čtyřech svých nových stanicích, jakožto součást pilotního programu. A nyní jsou již v provozu od stanice Bořislavka až do Nemocnice Motol. Testy rychlosti signálu také dopadly dobře. GSM mělo 250 kb/s, 3G internet 20 Mb/s a LTE internet 35 Mb/s. Zatím bylo pokryto 11,6 km trasy a projekt stál 18 miliónů korun. Ale co bychom neudělali pro pár extra minut na Facebooku?

Earlier last year, it was announced that Prague's Metro A line would be getting mobile coverage through its four new stations from Bořislavka to Nemocnice Motol as part of a pilot program. Speed tests for the coverage were measured at 250 kb/s for GSM, 20 Mb/s for 3G internet, and 35 Mb/s for LTE internet. The total length of the covered route amounts to 11.6 km, at a cost of 18 million CZK to install the cables. But what wouldn’t we do for a few extra minutes on Facebook, right?

Pokud bude pilotní program úspěšný, je možné, že bude mobilní pokrytí rozšířeno i do zbytku stanic. Operátoři již mají smlouvy s městem ohledně trasy C mezi stanicemi Muzeum a Roztyly. A tak již nemusíte ztrácet signál v podzemí, a dokonce budete moci surfovat po internetu na cestě do práce či do školy. Zatím se zdá signál uspokojivý, a město již začíná plánovat rozšiřování.

If the Pilot programme will be successful, it is possible, that mobile coverage will be expanded to the rest of the subway system. The Operators already have contracts with the city for the C line between the Museum and Roztyly. And so you don’t have to lose signal anymore and even surf on the web while on your way to work or school. So far the signal seems satisfactory and the City is planning to expand.

Ale nebudeme mít signál pouze v Metru. I tunel Blanka bude pokryt. Rada hlavního města rozhodla, že operátorům pronajme prostory, kam umístí vysílače. Za roční nájem prostor, na kterých budou stát vysílače, každý operátor Praze zaplatí 150 tisíc korun. Dalších téměř 290 tisíc pak dají za spotřebovanou energii. Díky vysílačům budou mobilním signálem pokryty všechny tři tubusy komplexu.

But not only the metro is getting signal but also the Blanka tunnel. Prague council has decreed, that it will rent out space for the operators to build their antennas for a yearly rent of 150 thousand crowns plus another 290 000 for the energy. Because of the antennas all three parts of Blanka will be covered.
