Adam Michnik je polský historik, esejista, publicista a politický komentátor, šéfredaktor deníku Gazeta Wyborzcza.

Michnik je spoluzakladatelem Výboru na ochranu pracujících a výraznou osobností nezávislého odborového hnutí Solidarita. Až do roku 1989 se podílel na vydávání samizdatových periodik Zapis, Krytyka a Biuletyn Informacyjny. Byl na šest let uvězněn za organizování stávky v gdaňských loděnicích. Od roku 1988 působil jako poradce Lecha Walesy.

Od roku 1989 je šéfredaktorem polského deníku Gazeta Wyborzscza, který pomáhal založit. Je autorem mnoha knih, ve kterých se věnuje polským dějinám i dějinám celého středoevropského prostoru. Své články publikuje v zahraničních časopisech jako je Der Spiegel, Le Monde, The Washington Post a další. Za svou práci obdržel řadu významných ocenění.

Adam Michnik is a Polish historian, essayist, publicist and political commentator, and editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborzcza.

Michnik co-founded the KOR (Committee for the Defense of Workers) and was a prominent figure in the independent Solidarity movement. Until 1989 he participated in the publishing of samizdat periodicals Zapis, Krytyka and Biuletyn Informacyjny. He spent a total of six years in Polish prisons for activities opposing the communist regime, member of the Round Table Talks 1989 and a member of the first non-communist regime.

Since 1989 he has been editor-in-chief of the Polish daily Gazeta Wyborzscza, which he helped to establish. He has written many books on Polish history and on the history of the whole Central European area. He publishes articles in foreign magazines, such as Der Spiegel, Le Monde, The Washington Post, etc. He has received many prestigious awards for his work.
